Sunglasses:
While most of us take steps to protect our skin from UV (ultra violet) radiation damage, nearly half of Australian adults don't regularly protect their eyes.
The simplest way to protect your eyes is by reducing exposure to UV:
- Stay out of the sun between 10am and 4pm when UV rays are highest
- Wear a hat to protect from sunburn and reduce the amount of UV to your eyes by half
- Choose sunglasses or prescription sunglasses that sit as close as possible to your eyes, without touching your eyelashes.
At Gisborne Optical Centre we have a good range of sunglasses to protect your eyes, and many are also suitable to put lenses into if you require prescription sungasses.
If you require prescription sunglasses then ask about Nupolar Polarised prescription lenses- "the only real way to block blinding glare".
When sunlight is reflected off a surface it becomes polarised and forms glare which interferes with your vision. Only a polarised lens can eliminate glare, and this enhances your visual acuity, colour contrast and overall wearing comfort.
Some of our sunglass brands include: Bill Bass,
cK,
Guess,
Oroton,
Maui Jim,
