Spectacle Lenses:

There are many different types of lenses available to the wearer today. Prescription eyeglass lenses are chosen based on the prescription and the wearer's requirements.

Sometimes glasses are used just for reading. Sometimes they are used at work, and the wearer needs to be able to read books, look at a computer screen and see what's happening around the workplace. Sometimes glasses are needed for improved vision while driving, or even a combinatiion of all of these.

So the type of lenses that you require and the options that you have available will be discussed with you by our friendly staff.

An overview of some types of prescription lenses:

Clear anti reflective (multicoated) - clearest possible vision by eliminating unwanted reflections.

Transitions - darken in sunlight, are clear indoors and protect against the sun's UV rays.

Polarising sunglass lenses - protect against sun's reflected glare from surfaces such as water, snow and sand.

Enhanced reading lenses - for computer and close work.

Bifocals - traditional lens with for distance and reading.

Multifocals / Progressive lenses - new free form technology to provide large and stable viewing zones that provide vision at all distances.

High Index Plastic Lenses - lighter and thinner than standard plastic lenses for more comfort and better view.
