If you would like to wear contact lenses to improve your vision, or to change the colour of your eyes, then you will need to book in for a contact lens consultation.
Types of consultations include:
Initial fitting- optometrist measures and determines wearer requirements.
Instruction/Teach- optometrist teaches patient how to insert and remove contact lenses and wearing instructions.
Aftercare- optometrist reviews your eyes once you have been wearing your contact lenses, to check the eye's adaptation.
These consultations are available Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday by appointment only, and are charged to the patient. Medicare does not pay for contact lens consultations except in certain high prescriptions.
The frequency of contact lens check and reviews is determined by the type of contact lenses and the wearing requirements, so you will be advised by the optometrist.
